OUR STORY
A Legacy of Compassion and Action

ICHCR was born out of the urgent need to address the devastating impact of conflict and displacement in North Eastern Nigeria. Witnessing the increased number of vulnerable individuals suffering from hunger, lack of healthcare, abuse, and educational deprivation, we knew we had to act. On 22nd December 2017, we established ICHCR as a community-based non-profit organization with a steadfast commitment to providing timely and effective support to those in need.

About Us

What We Do

ICHCR is dedicated to empowering vulnerable communities in North Eastern Nigeria affected by conflict and displacement. We focus on four key areas to create lasting change.

Our impact is felt every day in the lives of the individuals and communities we serve. We invite you to explore our website and learn more about the positive changes we are making in North Eastern Nigeria.

Mission

and natural disaster.

Vision

drinking water and well-educated self-reliant people.

Our Values: Guiding Our Every Step

Our work is deeply rooted in the following core values, which guide our decision-making and interactions with beneficiaries and partners

Transperancy

Transparency and Accountability: We uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct and financial transparency, ensuring that our resources are used effectively and responsibly.

Gender Sensitivity

We are committed to promoting gender equality and addressing the specific needs of women and girls in conflict-affected areas.

Passion

Passion: We are driven by a deep passion to make a difference in the lives of those we serve, working tirelessly to create positive change.

Responsiveness

We recognize the urgency of needs in conflict-affected communities and strive to provide timely and efficient support.

Resilience

We believe in the strength and resilience of individuals and communities, and we work to empower them to overcome adversity and build a brighter future.

Passion

We maintain high standards of professionalism in all our programs and operations, ensuring quality service delivery.

CHCR’s programs are not just Band-Aids; they’re catalysts for lasting change. We witness the power of education in opening young minds, the healing touch of healthcare in rebuilding lives, and the strength of resilient communities in overcoming adversity. By investing in women’s hygiene sensitization, we empower them to take charge of their health and well-being, propelling positive change throughout families and communities.

ICHCR GBV

GBV

Prevention lies at the heart of our GBV initiatives. ICHCR conducts extensive awareness programs to educate communities about the signs, consequences, and preventive measures against GBV. By fostering a culture of understanding and accountability, we strive to create an environment where GBV is not tolerated.

To address GBV systematically, ICHCR invests in capacity building and training programs for local communities, law enforcement, and healthcare professionals. By enhancing the skills and knowledge of these stakeholders, we work towards creating a network of support that can effectively respond to and prevent instances of GBV.

Understanding that the roots of GBV often lie in deeply ingrained societal norms, ICHCR engages in community dialogues. These conversations aim to challenge harmful stereotypes, promote gender equality, and foster a sense of collective responsibility in the fight against GBV.

ICHCR WaSH

WaSH

In collaboration with local and international partners, ICHCR works tirelessly to ensure access to clean and safe water sources. We implement water supply projects, drilling boreholes, and establishing water points, bringing a lifeline to communities grappling with water scarcity induced by the crisis.
Hygiene is a cornerstone of health, especially in crisis situations. ICHCR conducts extensive hygiene promotion campaigns, empowering individuals and communities with knowledge about proper sanitation practices.
Our approach goes beyond infrastructure; it involves active community engagement. ICHCR collaborates closely with local communities, involving them in decision-making processes, and training community members in the maintenance and sustainability of WaSH facilities.

ICHCR Education

Education

Embark on a journey of empowerment and knowledge with ICHCR’s comprehensive education initiatives. From championing the rights of the girl child to ensuring access for out-of-school children, we are committed to fostering learning opportunities.

ICHCR has tirelessly worked to reignite these dreams by championing educational opportunities. Through targeted programs, we provide avenues for girls to pursue education, ensuring they don’t become silent casualties of the conflict.

The conflict left countless children without access to formal education. ICHCR intervenes by bridging these educational gaps, offering hope to those who, in the absence of support, would be condemned to the cycle of poverty. Our outreach programs actively identify and enroll out-of-school children, providing them a chance to learn, grow, and envision a brighter future.

ICHCR Health

Health Care

In the heart of the crisis-ridden North East Nigeria, ICHCR stands as a beacon of hope, committed to delivering vital healthcare services to the most vulnerable populations affected by conflict and natural disasters.

ICHCR addresses the invisible wounds by providing extensive psychosocial support and trauma healing programs.

ICHCR conducts extensive health awareness campaigns, equipping communities with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions about their well-being.

ICHCR Livelihood

Livelihood

ICHCR is pioneering transformative initiatives to build sustainable livelihoods and uplift communities from the shadows of adversity.
ICHCR facilitates the formation of self-help groups, uniting community members in a collaborative effort towards self-sufficiency. Through these groups, we foster a sense of ownership and collective responsibility, enabling communities to identify and address their unique challenges.
Recognizing the untapped potential within communities, ICHCR places a strong emphasis on empowering individuals, particularly women, through skill acquisition programs. Initiatives such as tailoring and other vocational training not only provide avenues for economic independence but also contribute to the overall resilience and vitality of the community.
ICHCR recognizes the pivotal role women play in community well-being. Our livelihood programs specifically target women, providing them with the tools to become catalysts for change.

ICHCR Social Causes

Social Causes

In the heart of the crisis in North East Nigeria, ICHCR is unwavering in its commitment to addressing critical social causes that exacerbate the challenges faced by communities.

ICHCR takes a stand against Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Our initiatives include survivor support, awareness campaigns, and educational programs aimed at breaking the cycle of violence. We envision a future where every individual, regardless of gender, lives free from the threat of harm.

ICHCR stands as a staunch defender against Violence Against Children (VAC). Our programs focus on creating safe havens, education on child rights, and intervention measures to protect children from harm. We believe in nurturing environments where every child can grow and flourish without the shadows of violence.
